You may not realise this but you are a storyteller. We all are. With ever action you take, with every word you speak and even your very presence tells a story. This story is being written every minute of every day. Just like almost every book, there is a main character. That main character is you. You have a past, a present and a future. There past is already written, and yet the past may not actually be an accurate rendition of events and situation because those events are filtered through perceptual filters, false associations and limited understanding. In other words we make meaning of events and situations that may be more imagined than real. Please understand that the events are real, yet our memory and interpretation of these events may be grossly inaccurate. These filters can effect our perception of reality of a situation so profoundly, that the memory may be completely inaccurate and even unrecognisable. To really understand this try reading both sides of domestic violence dispute, or getting versions at at traffic accident, or listen to someone tell a story about a situation that you were there for. It is always fun hearing someone tell a story…
If you want to be great, be grateful. The world is full of highly successful people, who have accumulated a lot of money, a lot of property, a lot of material possessions and a lot of knowledge. You do not have to travel far to discover that some of these people, though wealthy, are not happy in their core. They are not living a life of fulfillment. The same rings true for the poor and destitute. Some have very meager means and yet radiate happiness and fulfillment, yet others are weighed down by the troubles of life. Fulfillment really has little to do with prosperity. It has everything to do with how grateful we are, and there are some very basic and logical reasons for this. For some Happiness does indeed come from money. This is only up to a point. Once our needs and some of our wants have been met there is no more happiness to be found in money. Therefore we must look to find happiness in some other way. As we consider the contrast between the fulfilled, and unfulfilled, let us consider the 4 ways that gratitude leads to a fulfilling life. For the past year…
Why don’t we see more miracles in our world? The answer is clear, “it is because of disbelief”. Miracles only occur as a result of strong belief. Christianity teaches that with faith “all things are possible”. Faith is not just a passive belief, it is a principle of action. On Sunday a woman whom I know was having car issues and needed to get home. I am not a mechanic and yet offered to help. Others came to give aid also. After about half an hour and numerous attempts to start the car, it still would not start. Her husband was at work and she had four young children with her and needed to get them home. It was suggested that we leave the car and give her a ride home, knowing they could return with a mechanic at a future time. Another suggestion was to pray that the car would work so she could get home. The though in my mind was that we had been trying to start the car without success for half an hour. The next though was “how could prayer help?” I caught myself in this thought and then decided “we need the faith of…

I wrote an article several months ago about gratitude. A lot has changed in my world since this time and therefore as I prepare for my Gratitude workshop, I felt it appropriate to talk about gratitude as someone who has focused consistently on this principle now for over 12 months. The commitment that I made was to say a prayer of gratitude every morning. When I first began this practice I was only giving gratitude for the good things in my life. I was only grateful for my blessing. I was only grateful for the people who love and support me. I was only grateful for my positive emotions, for my success in financial pursuits, and the health and vitality that I enjoyed. Then something happened. I was running with my dog and a thought come into my mind and a spiritual feeling entered my body. The thought was “One that has a gratitude heart, will enjoy the journey, not just the end result”. What changed at this time was that I had been thinking about the hardships of life. I was thinking about the rejection that I had experienced. I was thinking about the things in my life that…
I was feeling as though I cannot teach wealth because I am not wealthy. The truth is that I have never earned more than 100k in any financial year. As I think about the wealthy people in Australia and America and in the rest of the world my income by comparison is very tiny. To the Millionaire and Billionaire 100k is a small amount of money. Some celebrities spend that amount on an article of clothing, a charity dinner or a vacation. I have therefore thought about the limited earning capacity that I have. I have pondered the beliefs that I have about my value or worth. I recall a seminar leader once stating, “You get paid exactly what you believe that you are worth”. According to this way of thinking I am worth 100k. I do not believe that I am worth 200k or 300k or more. If I did then I would be earning more money. That to me sounds like a truth, and I know that as I change my belief about myself and my worth, my income will change accordingly. Here I have shared with you my limitations around earning capacity, success and money. I therefore…
Why do I prime? Firstly I have a believing heart, and I have been told in the past by one I would consider wise that certain actions produce certain results. That seems very evident and almost third grade. When I hear a statement like this from one who is wealthy, happy, content and fulfilled, then I will listen and then model what they themselves have done. I attended an event in September 2015 with Tony Robbins. The event was unbelievable for me. I used so much energy as I really wanted to get an extreme amount out of the event. Therefore my investment was tremendous. I really do not think I have ever invested so much effort and energy to one event ever in my life. Considering my diet, I amazed myself and others in the auditorium. Others appreciated the level of energy that I displayed. Prior to the event I read the words to the effect, “one can be excited for a day or a week, but to be excited for 20 years will give you the life of your dreams”. I read this quote and immediately thought to myself. “Impossible”. I thought about the emotions that I experienced…
I have a friend at work who explained to me that he went to a property development seminar many years ago. He further explained that he played to win and he wanted to believe that he could create wealth and make a lot of money in property. He explained that he paid over a thousand dollars to do the course, and at the end of the course he was invited to go to another course that cost $5000. At that point he pulled out and he was very glad that he did. He learned several years later that the seminar leader was imprisoned for property fraud. This whole experience taught him that self development seminars do not work. He had wasted time and money, and this fraudulent seminar leader had lied, cheated and was corrupt. This created a reference point in his mind for all self improvement seminars. Furthermore the principles and ideas taught in the seminar never did one bit of good for him. He had lost, and so do most people who attend a seminar. His philosophy is as follows. ‘They lose. They don’t change. They are still the same, and that’s just the way it…
Has there been a period in your life in which you were ‘burning the candle at both ends’. Goals, dreams, ambition constantly require effort and energy to constantly produce outstanding results. I have just returned from a well needed holiday at the Gold Coast. It was wonderful to be with the family and enjoy quality time with them. There are so many ‘pulls’ and ‘tugs’ in the world, that often we need to re-evaluate where we are heading and what we are creating. Love, marriage and relationships are pulling us in one direction, while career aspirations are tugging us in another direction. We invest time toward being physically fit and healthy, while feeling the need to contribute and provide service to those in need. I once attended the medieval festival where a jester was balancing on a small plank, that was balancing on red ball. He then began to juggle. As I think about this scene, I believe that this is a great analogy for life, and the many pressures and competing forces that demand our attention. Having a family holiday was fantastic, and it reminded me how critical it is to ensure that the family, the fundamental unit of…
I attended a meeting on leadership principles. In this meeting I was asked to come up to the front of the room with 2 other people. While at the front of the room two of us were asked to grab the arms of the third person, one on one side and the second on the other. I obediently grabbed onto the left arm of this man. We were then asked to pull which we did. I may have been a little overzealous and I pulled hard, causing both men to lose balance. It is not as if my goal was to dislodge the arm from the shoulder socket, and yet when I play, I play to win. Pointing to the man in the middle the speaker made this point. He stated that the man the middle represented each of us as we are being constantly pulled in two different directions. He stated that we need to resist and remain on track and focused, and have a constant battle within ourselves in order to make good choices. Obviously he was talking about the conflict that exists between the conscious mind and the unconscious man. In religion it is referred to as…
