The “pulls” and “tugs” of life. Remember the most important thing!

October 31, 2016

Has there been a period in your life in which you were ‘burning the candle at both ends’.  Goals, dreams, ambition constantly require effort and energy to constantly produce outstanding results.

I have just returned from a well needed holiday at the Gold Coast. It was wonderful to be with the family and enjoy quality time with them.  There are so many ‘pulls’ and ‘tugs’ in the world, that often we need to re-evaluate where we are heading and what we are creating.  Love, marriage and relationships are pulling us in one direction, while career aspirations are tugging us in another direction.  We invest time toward being physically fit and healthy, while feeling the need to contribute and provide service to those in need.

I once attended the medieval festival where a jester was balancing on a small plank, that was balancing on red ball.  He then began to juggle.  As I think about this scene, I believe that this is a great analogy for life, and the many pressures and competing forces that demand our attention.

Having a family holiday was fantastic, and it reminded me how critical it is to ensure that the family, the fundamental unit of society, is taken care of, and is made a priority in my life.  Several conversations with my wife, and her loving guidance has brought back to my mind and heart the importance of my relationship with her, and my children.  My family is my highest priority, and my relationships with my wife and children is critical for my living a fulfilling life.

In November 2016 I will be running two workshops on relationships. As I have contemplated this topic, my mind and heart has been drawn toward study and application.  I firmly believe that knowledge is not about information. Knowledge is about application.  Often time is spent in study and learning and the ideas and concepts never make it off the page and into our lives.  Too often academic learning is simply about information gathering.  Information gathering is imperative, and filling our mind with concepts, ideas, theories and principles is very important.  I personally believe that it is also beneficial to attend good seminars, meetings, workshops and engage in life long learning.  The ideas and concepts in a book are only as good as its ability to inspire us to take action.  As I have prepared for this workshop I have taken time each day to practice and apply elements of the workshop into my life.  This is the part of learning that is most exciting to me.

We are not only to learn through the process of study.  We are invited to apply the principles  in our lives. By so doing we turn information into knowledge. Through application the power of the principles comes into our lives. We are then transformed.  The beauty about the workshop is that my purpose is to build knowledge.  Therefore my goal is to send you away with more than information or a ‘how to’ guide.  My purpose is to create a change in belief in the workshop itself.  To get you to believe that your relationship, wherever it is will rise to a new level.  To instill this belief into the unconscious mind so that your behavior will change without conscious thought.

I was speaking with a recruiting specialist who explained to me that many young people lack basic communication skills like maintaining eye contact and speaking clearly.  These people would benefit from this course.  Others have a fantastic relationships.  These too would benefit from this course.  Wherever you currently are in your relationships, increased empowerment leads to increased results.  Turn a great relationship into a phenomenal one.

As you think about the many ‘tugs and pulls’ in life, consider attending this relationship course. I promise that you will be amazed at the difference it will make, wherever you currently are.
