Leadership is essential to every organisation and the world needs more teachers and leaders. I fervently believe that in order to build strong teams, we need strong leaders. These leaders must have qualities, attitudes and beliefs consistent with organisational values if we are to promote improved performance. A leader is not the one who can do the work of 10 men, rather it is one who can get those 10 men to do their work. In the book the psychology of winning author Dennis Waitley described that 3 resistors halt our progress. Laziness, fear and limited self-belief. However I believe there are 3 principles that enable a business leader to get the best out of others. 1/ Money. People need to be paid for what they do, and paid well. Most organisations in the developed world have a very good payment structure and employees are paid well. The only exception here is those involved with unpaid charity organisations or churches, where the reward is spiritual fulfillment. 2/ Autonomy and Mastery. Autonomy relates to extending trust to employees, and allowing for growth in their decision making muscles. Mastery is about improvement and development. Many organisations allow for creative vision, forward thinking employees and training and…
I had a brilliant student in one of my workshops state that there are only 3 ways to use time. He said that we can sell our time, invest our time or waste our time. As I have thought about this comment, and looked back on my life I realise that I have wasted so much time. In fact even when I was selling my time and investing my time, at the core often I was wasting my time. The biggest reason for this is my reluctance, or resistance to planning. Planning takes time. Planning takes mental focus and energy. Planning is a vital part of all success, and it is a principle that successful people understand and live. Planning is not only goal setting. It’s not only about the big picture. It is about all the small details. It is about the moments in our lives, and making those small moments count. Whilst I understand the importance of planning, often I feel like it is a waste of time because I am so focussed on taking action. However planning is an important aspect of ‘sharpening the saw’. My brother in law and I were using an electric chainsaw that was…
I have been thinking recently of something I once heard from a religious leader by the name of Gordon Hinkley say. I’ve tried to look up this quote on the internet, yet have been unable to find it. My memory is excellent and it was such a bold statement that I committed it to memory straight away. The comment is this, “if every man and every woman would do everything they could to look after the needs of his or her companion, there would be very little, if any divorce”. I have thought about this quote a great deal over the past several months. Since the establishment of AccessWorldSeminars my focus has not been on my relationship as my number 1 priority. I certainly have not been doing all I could to ensure that the needs of my wife are being met. The first thing I needed to do, was uncover the needs of Rebecca my wife. I began to studying the needs of a woman, and the needs of a man. As I studied I found conflicting opinions, yet I soon discovered some needs that actually work in almost all situations, and with almost all women. These are fundamental…
Often when we are honest with ourselves, we realise that stories are a critical factor in life. The stories that we tell ourselves affect our experience of life. This experience can be positive or negative, based on the stories we choose to believe. I say ‘choose to believe ‘ for a reason. It does matter what we believe. Our beliefs are foundational to the results that holding onto those beliefs produce in our lives. The creation of our world is a construct based on our beliefs. Einstein said, “we are boxed in by the boundary conditions of our thinking”. For example, I believe that empowerment is the best way to live. I believe that empowerment enables a person to take control of their life, and consciously and deliberately create the future they want. This to me is critical, and therefore I spend time and energy planning my work, my relationships, and my physical body through self-development. I also teach others how to take control of their unconscious expectations of the future, and reduce those things that they don’t want and increase those things that they do want. I also believe that teaching is another form of learning, and so I teach for the…
If you want to be great, be grateful. The world is full of highly successful people, who have accumulated a lot of money, a lot of property, a lot of material possessions and a lot of knowledge. You do not have to travel far to discover that some of these people, though wealthy, are not happy in their core. They are not living a life of fulfillment. The same rings true for the poor and destitute. Some have very meager means and yet radiate happiness and fulfillment, yet others are weighed down by the troubles of life. Fulfillment really has little to do with prosperity. It has everything to do with how grateful we are, and there are some very basic and logical reasons for this. For some Happiness does indeed come from money. This is only up to a point. Once our needs and some of our wants have been met there is no more happiness to be found in money. Therefore we must look to find happiness in some other way. As we consider the contrast between the fulfilled, and unfulfilled, let us consider the 4 ways that gratitude leads to a fulfilling life. For the past year…
AccessWorld Seminars. About the Company. AccessWorld Seminars was established in September 2015. The purpose of AccessWorld Seminars is to create an organisation that promotes EMPOWERMENT. AccessWorld Seminars was created as a vehicle to assist people to break away from the trance that many find themselves stuck in. This trance is the trance of DISEMPOWERMENT. AccessWorld Seminars utilises many teaching and training programs to accomplish this end. These programs consist of seminars, workshops, life coaching and re-patterning sessions. Seminars provide a ‘saturation environment’ in which transformation is the focus. There is something magical that happens when a group of people learn and grow together. Seminars are designed to build your belief, stretch your thinking, have you experience strong positive emotions and gain emotional mastery. When in a peak emotional state, your decision making ability is enhanced, as is confidence and self-belief. You will experience total empowerment and the ability to take full control of your life. Workshops are designed to teach you to use the tools and skills of coaching and Neurological Re-patterning. They are designed to give you practical experience in a safe learning environment, so that you can create change in your own life…
I wrote an article several months ago about gratitude. A lot has changed in my world since this time and therefore as I prepare for my Gratitude workshop, I felt it appropriate to talk about gratitude as someone who has focused consistently on this principle now for over 12 months. The commitment that I made was to say a prayer of gratitude every morning. When I first began this practice I was only giving gratitude for the good things in my life. I was only grateful for my blessing. I was only grateful for the people who love and support me. I was only grateful for my positive emotions, for my success in financial pursuits, and the health and vitality that I enjoyed. Then something happened. I was running with my dog and a thought come into my mind and a spiritual feeling entered my body. The thought was “One that has a gratitude heart, will enjoy the journey, not just the end result”. What changed at this time was that I had been thinking about the hardships of life. I was thinking about the rejection that I had experienced. I was thinking about the things in my life that…
Why do I prime? Firstly I have a believing heart, and I have been told in the past by one I would consider wise that certain actions produce certain results. That seems very evident and almost third grade. When I hear a statement like this from one who is wealthy, happy, content and fulfilled, then I will listen and then model what they themselves have done. I attended an event in September 2015 with Tony Robbins. The event was unbelievable for me. I used so much energy as I really wanted to get an extreme amount out of the event. Therefore my investment was tremendous. I really do not think I have ever invested so much effort and energy to one event ever in my life. Considering my diet, I amazed myself and others in the auditorium. Others appreciated the level of energy that I displayed. Prior to the event I read the words to the effect, “one can be excited for a day or a week, but to be excited for 20 years will give you the life of your dreams”. I read this quote and immediately thought to myself. “Impossible”. I thought about the emotions that I experienced…
Smoking in 2016 has got to be the most unrewarding experience that I can think of. Take away the social aspect and what is left? I was working with a client who expressed her desires to quit smoking. During the session I had her list and write down the benefits of smoking. This she did and there were a couple of minor benefits that she could link to smoking. However when we weighed these against the disadvantages of smoking a huge imbalance became evident. It took me only a few minutes to dissemble the benefits of smoking, and to show her how to fill the same needs in a positive healthy way. All that remained was a long list of disadvantages. She was ready to make the changes and for the re-patterning process to be installed directly into her unconscious mind. An interesting concept that I taught was that in order to take control of this addiction, she needed to choose to either shrink the addiction or alternately grow bigger, or outgrow the addiction. As I considered these two approaches and thought about their implications, my mind was drawn to two different schools of thought. The first is the concept…
I have a friend at work who explained to me that he went to a property development seminar many years ago. He further explained that he played to win and he wanted to believe that he could create wealth and make a lot of money in property. He explained that he paid over a thousand dollars to do the course, and at the end of the course he was invited to go to another course that cost $5000. At that point he pulled out and he was very glad that he did. He learned several years later that the seminar leader was imprisoned for property fraud. This whole experience taught him that self development seminars do not work. He had wasted time and money, and this fraudulent seminar leader had lied, cheated and was corrupt. This created a reference point in his mind for all self improvement seminars. Furthermore the principles and ideas taught in the seminar never did one bit of good for him. He had lost, and so do most people who attend a seminar. His philosophy is as follows. ‘They lose. They don’t change. They are still the same, and that’s just the way it…
