How much will you invest?

January 11, 2016

When most people hear the term investing, they immediately think of money. They may think of investing in real estate or shares, or in other ventures. I would like us to consider investing in another way.

I have been asked to MC several weddings and functions and each time I have fully invested of myself. On one occasion I was asked to help run a live auction. This was a very new prospect, as I had never run a live auction. I therefore took it upon myself to prepare for this auction. I really wanted to do a great job and provide entertainment, laughter and be competent and proficient at running this auction. I could have attended and hoped for the best, however I am someone who has learned over the years that preparation precedes performance. Therefore I prepared myself by using YouTube to see several examples of live auctions. I had my iPad in the bathroom and spent about an hour just watching and learning from other auctioneer’s. I then began practicing the skills. Rolling my tongue, rapid clear speech, rhythm and tempo of the calls. Practicing the numbers forward and backwards. I also did a number of voice exercises , repeating these exercises over the next several days. Next was the mental component where I spent time visualising myself competently running the auction, and the crowd responding in a positive manner. I saw the crowd laughing and having a great time. I heard myself speaking clearly and well. I was confident and relaxed and really enjoying the night.

As a result, this is exactly what happened. The night was fantastic and the live auction was overwhelmingly successful, exceeding by far the predicted amounts on almost every item. The room was filled with laughter and I was able to carry out the auction with skill and ability. I had made an investment into this night that helped it turn into a staggering success. I invested time. Learning, practice, preparation, visualisation. I invested energy. On the day I used a loud voice, used movement and explosive gestures. I invested my talent of public speaking and willingness to help. I invested my mind to manifest a positive outcome.

There was also another time where I made a large investment. I was on my way to assist a friend who was struggling. On the way to the address I prepared myself by investing focus. I really wanted to help, and knew that in order to help I needed to have all the skill, power, ability and humour readily accessible. As I was driving along in my car I began to shout at the top of my lungs, ” I command my unconscious mind to enable me to possess all the skill, power, ability, humour or whatever it takes to move this person from where they are to where I know they need to be”. I repeated this over and over with ever-increasing intensity. When I stopped my car at the lights I used my arms and made large gestures to create greater intensity of the feelings in my body. I did this over and over again and noticed that several people in other cars were looking at me like I was an alien. I did not care and kept going. The muscles in my arms, shoulders, abdominal all received a workout and I felt fully alive and ready to attack the challenge that awaited me. I made a huge emotional investment. I was focussed on one thing. That was to completely create a shift for this friend and alter the course of their future. I made a huge impact and was able to see transformation occur. I expected nothing less.

In this situation I had invested my time, focus, emotions, energy and skill to this situation. I was therefore able to create the needed change. I did these things and many other like situations out of love and service.

My question is this. How much are you willing to invest? I am not necessarily talking about money. We invest with family, friends, partners, prospects and other people often. I ask people to come along and participate in my seminar. The title of this seminar is “Unlock Your Incredible Self”. I might have rightly titled it, “Invest Yourself”. If you are happy with low or mediocre rewards in life then stay right where you are. Perhaps you feel that you are just average and will always remain so. Perhaps you think that you are not meant to have the “great things in life”.

The seminar that I present is powerful and life changing, because that is what I expect myself to create. I will deliver amazing content, with energy and power because I “Invest Myself”. What this means is that I will deliver. I will bring energy, excitement, peace and love. I will ‘Breathe Life’. I promise that if you come along to this seminar and invest a little money, and a little time, and a lot of heart, you will walk away transformed. Don’t settle for low and mediocre rewards. Take a giant leap in terms of your finances. In terms of your relationships. In terms of your physical health and spirituality.
