Communication Breakthrough

November 16, 2015

Tonight I concluded the fifth life coaching session with a client. Whilst he had made good progress, I was still striving to see a transformation occur in him. The work that I am interested in, is making changes at the unconscious level. We had communicated about and he had a good understanding at the conscious level yet he was boxed in by the boundary conditions of his own thinking. He was unable to apply the skills because the issue was not lack of skill. The issue was not lack of ability.

He is a brilliant man. He has a great marriage and loving family. He experiences good health and high energy levels. He is in a good financial position. He came to me in relation to the only area of his life that he felt was lacking. This area was communication.

He had learned throughout his life that if you work hard at any problem, it can be conquered. This approach had worked in all other areas of his life. Yet in this one area of his life, (communication) it seemed that it was not working.

He was attentive and made notes. He was completely involved in the exercises that we did, and he was motivated to make progress. This attitude of wanting to increase his ability to communicate was remarkable and whilst the transformation was not immediate, he was determined to conquer.

I realised that he already possessed many skills and much understanding in the area of communication. As I taught skills, and techniques I learned that he had a great ability to learn and apply the principles. I then realised that his roadblock was a creation of his mind, and that his current beliefs around communication was the issue, not the skill.

Our time was spent together wisely and on the fifth session everything was different. We systematically reached down into his unconscious mind and removed the old belief “I am not a good communicator”, and replaced it with a new belief, “I am an excellent communicator”.

I saw this man jump with so much enthusiasm and excitement after he resolved this limiting belief. He finally understood that his beliefs were shaping his experience of life. This belief was not true. It was a belief that he created as a child.

When I saw the shift occur, my heart leapt for joy. He was different. He had transformed in front of me. What an awesome sight to behold and what a wonderful experience.

I absolutely love what I do and how it affects others in such a profound way.
